Slayer stands for “Satan Laughs As You Eternally Rot”. Slayer are a heavy metal band I used to listen to some time ago before I was saved. Interestingly I have always equated the name of that band as being something quite Demonic and evil, something that representing my life and ignorance when I was living in Sin before God saved me.
But even more interesting ( to me at least) is the thought that – “Its true”. Satan most likly does find it amusing or gratifying that he has deceived many so easily into rejecting the true God. Its more than ironic to think people would be happy about it! and sing about it! But that is the very nature and success of the deception.
Revelation tells us that at some point in the future to come, Satan will be bound for 1000 years while Jesus reigns on earth and after that will be released again to deceive the nations. They will turn and fight with him against God. Absolultly amazing to think of. I have always struggled to get my mind around how that could be possible, but i need only to look at myself 10 years ago sitting in my room, deceived, singing to SLAYER with lyrics so dark and demonic I struggle to read them now as I right this blog.
Praise God! He has saved me. He is coming again! Pray He will save many more.

Thanks for the post. Satan finds it amusing because hell was his portion, yet many opt in to join him there. I thank God I’m saved as well and pray more come to the knowledge of salvation.

I have a revelation to share with you.
Little less than two years ago I awoke from a great vision in my sleep as vivid as life itself.
In the dream I was alone in the dark wooded forest.
I carried with myself a small 22 caliber rifle for protection.
The vision produced a horrific sight.
In the distance the beast walked as a lion in the darkness with a great piece of carrion in his mouth.
I fired quickly only wounding the beast.
It turned and ran at me, and I fled.
I fled into the night, but something caught my eye.
As I fled the beast I passed a group of unsuspecting men.
Unsuspecting and unarmed.
As I turned to fully see them standing in the darkness huddled together,
the beat encroached from the darkness and pounced.
Before the beast could fell one of the men I shot again. A third time and a fourth.
This took the beast from the men and back towards me.
This time I would not move.
I fired at the beast hitting it in the head so many times that the weapon had to have been given by God.
Innumerable bullets and an unparalleled accuracy.
I shot the beast over and over as I walked towards me slowly.
It was only feet from me that the beast fell to the ground. It certainly was lifeless but showed no signs of bullet holes.
My last memory was of the men running to my side to see the beast lying on the ground.
Since then I have had no more visions of worldy crisis and destruction…
Previous visions had been filled with explosions, great war and earthly destruction (volcanoes n stuff)
Since this vision it has been as if a great spring had been reopened in the dryest desert on earth.
A life grows within these visions and is present in my daily life, between myself and other men.
I have been struggling to answer myself the question of what all this means, but for certain I know this must be shared.
I feel as though a great burden has been lifted from not only me, but those around me.
This vision is great in importance and I believe it to be the creation of our greater Creator.
I am only a boy, early into my twenties, but I know this to be true.
That beast was left in that vision, dead on the ground.
I now wear its skin of indestructibility.
For these two to be true, I owe this world much more than I give.
I will need support.
But to support me, I must sway you to believe.
A lump in my throat at that word, but the one I must use.
I am the truth.

Slayer were originally called dragonslayer, but decided it was too lame so they shortened it to slayer, then they got signed. It is not an acronym; you are an idiot. If there is a god, I do not think he is going to be as pathetic as to judge people on their music tastes. Anyway if he was it would surely be those who listen to Country or Jazz music.

I don’t think its pathetic of God to not agree with music and lyrics which mock him and go against everything about him. Its an insult when the creation rebels against its creator, there is no logical reason for God to put up with it.

i’m glad you came to faith and all but really? some of that music might be written by non-believers or even satanists, but that doesn’t make the music evil. come on man. believe me, i love God. alot. He’s done amazing things for me. but i love my metal too!!! and while my love for metal is nothing even close to my love for God, or for the people of God, i still like it. i listen to it everyday, and bands much more… evil looking? than slayer too. slipknot comes to mind….
all i’m saying is be nice to my metal, i like it. it keeps me sane, haha. and listening to metal in no way detracts from my being a christian! its great!!!!

I’m so embarrassed, in fact, that I think I will let your words speak for themselves, and refrain from debasing myself by commenting further. If the creators of SLAYER deny the acronym, perhaps you should trust their word. But I guess trusting the “word” is too much for you.
All of you above who claim to be Christians but love to listen to music that does not honor God, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love it’s own. Yet because you are not of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.”(JESUS) John 15:18-20. If you love the things of this world that go against the very nature of God, how can you love God with all your heart, mind and soul as it says in Matthew 22:37? If you love your SLAYER and think that you love God also read Matthew 15:8-11 and 18-20. Please, ask God to truly test your salvation. As Christians we shouldn’t be afraid to hear what He has to say to us.

wow more bickering everywhere i go about slayer, i am a christian, and i am also in the army and guess what i also listen to slayer, i listen to it when i go out on a mission, it gets me hyped up, i really like the aggression, and do you really think it was a coincidence when slayer’s album “God Hates Us All” came out on sep 11 2001? hmmm, i don think so, i think God may be using this group to wake people up. but that’s just me. i like slayer, i have ever since i heard them, i also like a lot of other metal bands, like Lamb of God, Black Label Society, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth and it does not detract from my woship to the One and ONLY God entertainment is just that. entertainment.
