Romans 1:16 – For I am Ashamed of the Gospel.

Doesn’t sound right does it? But unfortunatly I think its true too often for many of us, myself included. While we would (i hope) never say these words (i didn’t even like typing them!) our lives reflect this sometimes more than what Paul really said…
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16
Every week i stand in front of approx 60-100 teenagers in public schools and boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet in other avenues of life i become fearful, selfish and ashamed. I know the Gospel, I love the Gospel and still I hold it back.
Did you not speak up today when you should of? Did you hold back that gospel track? Did you fear man today more then love them? Were you ashamed of the gospel today?
But it’s not over, tomorrow God willing is another day, another day to pray and ask Christ for the boldness to do the very thing He commissioned me to do, the very thing I will not be able to do in heaven…to preach the Good News to unbelievers. For I do not want to be ever ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power that saved me and can save all who believe.
- Trent

You should be ashamed of the Gospel. Faith, believing things to a degree of certainty which exceeds what is warranted by the evidence, is no virtue. it’s only fooling yourself. And preaching in public schools? In the U.S., (since attending school is required by law) that would be illegal, and rightfully so, as it amounts to state sanctioned compulsory religious indoctrination.
So, yeah, shame on you.
In Sydney,Australia it is not illegal. Parents fill out permission slips for thier children to either opt out or in of whatever religious education is available at the school. But i guess you are all knowing and knew that already? Since of course you have no need to put faith in anything because you have obtained all the necassary knowledge to be sure of everything and anything. Despite your name, It doesn’t appear you could be reasoned with as you seem to throw words around like knives with the intent of harm rather than discussion, but i guess thats why your scary?. God bless you, thanks you for your ‘comments’ they will keep me warm today.
scaryreasoner, When you typed that message you had faith your keyboard would not fuse out and blow up in your face, you may not have been aware of it but you had faith that it wouldn’t explode. I consider it a virtue to have faith in things unseen, thats in the new testament somewhere.
Here it is,
“29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.””

Praise God brother…
